With the large number of Croatian immigrants making Adelaide their new home Archbishop Dr. Matthew Beovich, who himself was a Croat, delegated a priest for The Croats who began to gather at St. Patrick’s in the city. Several Croatian priests visited Adelaide, with Fr. Rok Romac remaining for a year in 1953 founding the Croatian Catholic Centre.  It was the arrival of Don. Nikica Dušević that engaged the community to start a Sunday school and during his time that the Croatian Community bought a parish house and created a chapel dedicated to "Our Lady of the Great Croatian Testament.  Fr Dušević retired in 1996.  Currently the community priest is Fra Nikica Zlatunić.

In 1973 the Adelaide community was blessed with the arrival of the sisters of the "Adorers of the Blood of Christ" to assist the priest in working with the Croatian immigrants.  Gradually the sisters expanded their apostolate to include parish catechesis, animating liturgical celebrations, conducting the church choir, working with the community and the Mary de Mattias prayer group, coordinating the pastoral council, pastoral visits to the sick and needy, social activities, coordinating and working with volunteers in social activities and the coordination of the Croatian Care for the Aged which has become an important resource to the elderly.  The sisters assist in the spiritual needs of all believers living in the territory of South Australia, which covers 984,381 kilometres from Port Lincoln to Whyalla, Coober Pedy, Mintabie, Berri, Renmark and Mt Gambier.
